As a CBPO at Minneapolis St.
Paul International airport I interact with the traveling public arriving from overseas, as well as inspecting luggage and airborne cargo.
Working well with fellow law enforcement officers from CBP and other agencies attempting to prevent the entry of terrorists and terrorist weapons into the United States.
Also achieving agency goals by detecting and seizing narcotics and other illegal, prohibited or dangerous articles, and interdicting the unlawful entry of undocumented and/or prohibited persons seeking to enter the country.
As a CBP officer I have been assigned to multiple duties beyond daily operations.
To include, mailing new immigrant packets and maintaining a yearly log of each packet, maintaining terminal 1 paper work in boxes for the yearly port shred day( also being point of contact for terminal 1), sending the weekly report for electronic APIS to our field office in Chicago, conducting weekly maintenance on the global entry kiosk, and also being the backup for maintaining terminal 1 and terminal 2 phone extensions.
Transportation Security Officer(TSO), 06/2004
As a TSO at Chicago O'Hare International Airport I Implemented security-screening procedures to protect the traveling public by preventing any deadly or dangerous objects from being transported onto an aircraft.
I also conducted the screening of passengers, baggage and cargo.
My daily duties included checking luggage by hand, using an x-ray machine, and conducting pat downs for the traveling public.
I also monitored the entry and exit points of the secured areas of the airport.
On the Job Mentor - After working as a TSO for 1 year and 6 months I became a "on the job mentor".
My duties while working as a on the job mentor included training new TSO's on how to perform their job efficiently and effectively.
I completed and maintained a daily log of their training and how many hours they worked at each position and reported to the supervisor how the new TSO's were performing.
Management - During my final year as a TSO I worked as a acting Lead TSO in the International Terminal in O'Hare Airport.
My duties as Lead TSO included assigning TSO's to lane assignments during daily muster, making a daily rotation for the lane assignments, assigning breaks, calibrating equipment for shift use and shift change, logging and reporting traveling public complements and complaints, and acted as the acting supervisor when the supervisor was away.
I have given refresher trainings on customs processing to fellow CBPO's and supervisors.
The courses include how to process CARNET's, conduct seizures, making a NCIC arrest, opening and closing the cash register, placing goods in bond, and properly filling and filing multiple customs forms.
I have also trained new CBPO's on primary processing.
Management - Because of my professionalism, knowledge base, and dependability, I have served as acting supervisor on multiple occasions.
I have directed CBPO's on different occasions involving immigration case work, and seizing goods.
I have dealt directly with delta airlines involving passengers returning to their home country and goods being placed in bond.
Training - I am Currently trained and qualified to use and carry the agency issued service weapon.
