Provide safety, accountability and welfare to public, staff and inmates.Supervised 3 to 80 security personnel during any given shift at any given time.Daily assignment and reassignment of staff to maintain security and control in any assigned unit.Capability to use self-defense and weapons and related defense and control equipment. Proficient in security, custody and disciplinary practices and procedures in the correctional institution, to include Federal, State and agency laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing controls of inmates. Expert in methods, techniques and practices of paraprofessional counseling and crisis intervention for inmates as well as principles and practices of supervision and work leadership. Verbal and written communications as required by the duties and assignments in correctional settings.Remained calm and even temperament during emergency and high alert situations.Enforcing EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) compliant work environment.

Conducted continuous formal, informal and emergency counts, pat downs, strip searches, security inspections, contraband (weapons, drugs, alcohol, tattoo equipment) inspections, and constant monitoring of inmate activities, recreation, programs and during sleeping hours.Transport via van or bus, institutionally cleared inmates to and from work to different locations throughout Cochise County and to their respective Intergovernmental Agreement agencies.Contact with local, county, state and/or federal authorities and institutions, and coordinate work assignments and their accomplishment. In addition, evaluate work performance, complete payroll documentation and establish a method to train and effectively provide job skills to inmates. Recommend job security or destitution based upon performance and rule fulfillment.
