As a correctional officer my duties were to maintain the safety and security of the inmates and the facility by conducting security counts of the inmates, perimeter checks, random cell searches and UA's.
Upon becoming a Unit Counselor the duties changed to helping inmates find jobs within the facility, attend school as required per the state, maintain pre-parole plans and assist in the needs of the inmates and concerns that any staff have.
I also conducted rounds with the Warden within the unit and attended weekly staff meeting to address any concern in the facility.
I also had weekly meetings with the Unit Manager and outlined goals for the unit and staff.
During my time at this facility I achieved in lowering the recidivism rate of returning inmates by assisting them in learning skills needed to help them once they are released and how to implement these skills, and where to go for assistance when they need that extra help.
I left this job to move to Ruidoso.

I responded to emergency situations weather it would be a fight, riot and or overdose.
I left this job to move to another state.

I left this job to take care of my newborn.
