Perform inmate head counts, well-being checks, cell checks, and strip searches. Perform security checks of the perimeter and checks of the buildings and grounds. Respond to emergency calls. Exercise appropriate use of force and self-defense tactics to restrain disorderly inmates and deescalate volatile situations. Observe, monitor, log, and supervise inmate movement, activity, and safety during meal service, recreation, visitations, cleaning, laundry, medication distribution, and security checks. Escort non-Jail personnel through the facilities. Assist in the receiving and discharging of inmates. Complete inmate paperwork, fingerprinting, photographing, and data entry. Conduct NCIC and other checks for outstanding warrants, protection orders, etc. Log incoming inmate property and manage inmate money. Issue Jail clothing and supplies. Conduct medical and suicide screenings. Complete breathalyzer and urinary analysis and collect inmate DNA. Operate and maintain radios, telephones, and other communication equipment. Answer phones and assist callers with questions and concerns. Operate doors and intercoms for master control and unit control. Log and screen incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries for security breaches. Classify inmates by obtaining and analyzing criminal history, behavioral history, and related background checks. Determine appropriate inmate housing placement. Assign and track jail trustee time. Answer inmate questions and concerns. Distribute inmate mail, newspapers, request slips, and supplies. Unload meal carts from delivery truck. Stock laundry carts with supplies. Transport and guard inmates to and from court and other outside appointments. Visually inspect security equipment to ensure proper functionality.
Provide customers with information on available styles, sizes and colors, and inform customers if something is not available. Assist customers in trying shoes on and provide honest feedback. Provide customers with information on discount or other promotional offers. Maintain a clean and organized work space at all times. Order out of stock shoes and special orders from the warehouse. Encourage customers to buy accessories such as socks and insoles as necessary. Provide customers with information on return and exchange policies.
Sort, grade, weigh, and inspect products, verifying and adjusting product weight or measurement to meet specifications. Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards. Monitor the production line. Stock and sort product. Replenish packaging supplies such as wrapping paper, plastic sheet, boxes, cartons, glue, ink, or labels. Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material.
Read recipes, or formulas to determine temperatures, and ingredient specifications. Pour, dump, or load prescribed quantities of ingredients or products into equipment, manually or using computer-controlled feeders. Turn valves or start pumps to add ingredients and to transfer products for further processing. Observe gauges, dials, and product characteristics, and adjust controls to maintain appropriate temperature, pressure, and flow of ingredients. Collect and examine product samples during production to test them for quality, color, content, consistency, viscosity, or specific gravity. Record production and test data, such as temperature, batches processed, and test results. Clean, wash, and sterilize equipment weekly.
I volunteered for the Minnehaha County Police Reserves for 1 year. Work included event details such as: Ribfest, Sioux Empire Fair, Hot Harley Nights, Hot Summer Nights, as well as parades throughout the year and other smaller events. I worked with local agencies for a minimum of 8 hours per month and up to 40 hours per month maximum, as well as a minimum of 4 training hours. This included working with agencies such as: Sioux Falls Police Department, Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Sioux Falls Animal Control, and South Dakota Game, Fish, & Parks. I resigned from this position on good terms with the agency in September of 2018.
