  • I am the direct supervisor to over 100 staff members. I handle the recertification process which entails me getting the staff's required certifications scanned into our system and over to human resources.
  • I am responsible for delivering disciplines and creating action plans for them.
  • I am involved with the mentoring and preceptor process. I assign preceptors for nursing students, paramedic students, military students and new RNs, BHTs, HUCs, and PCTs.
  • I also delegate and create patient assignments for adult, pediatric ED and trauma patients.
  • I am in charge of payroll for all of these individuals and any others who are transferred into our department. I transfer staff out to different cost centers, code all timecard entries, keep track of absences and vacation requests and have all of these timecards ready for processing every two weeks. We use the Kronos system.
  • I helped the department educator for a few years as she was between three different facilities. I would make sure to get all of the new hire orientation packets out to new staff, monitor the progress and completion of the packets then collect them and get them to the department educator. Upon her review she would then give them back to me so I could file them in the employee files which I maintain as well for the department.
  • I helped to maintain the trauma mentorship program precepting new staff to the trauma room. This involved pairing staff up with a trauma precptor, giving them an educational binder with forms to complete and turn back in upon completion.
  • I am part of a committee that evaluates the EM residents.
  • I also take part in the care of adult, pediatric and burn emergency department and trauma patients.
  • Cultivated warm and compassionate atmosphere for patients, pre-hospital staff and medical staff.
