I am a Medical Technologist whose career started in a small county hospital. In that hospital I worked as a generalist and became an efficient and productive Med Tech who was well-rounded in test execution and analysis, including Chemistry, Hematology, Blood bank and Urinalysis.
I enjoyed aiding physicians in accurate disease diagnoses.
Most importantly I learned a sense of responsibility and good ethical practice that I have applied throughout my career.
In recent years I have been employed by a large medical center and have added extensive Microbiology experience to my skills.

As a clinical microbiologist I have isolated, identified, typed and grouped bacteria present in bodily fluids, autopsies, skin scrapings and surgical specimens.
I have developed and maintained positive customer relationships through effective communication and participating in the teaching of infectious disease physicians, pharmacists and medical technology students.
My employer has utilized me in the training of testing procedures and equipment to new laboratory personnel.
I participated in a clinical trial which resulted in the accurate and timely reporting of MRSA in blood cultures with PCR testing.
Once implemented this testing had nationally published papers and greatly improved the outcome for our patients.
My first opportunity to study and learn clinical microbiology which I had always wanted to do.
Isolated, identified, typed and grouped bacteria present in bodily fluids, autopsies, skin scrapings and surgical specimens.
Accurately recorded and reported test results according to established procedures.
Demonstrated testing procedures and equipment to new laboratory personnel.
Examined fecal samples to properly identify parasites and ova.
Providing Customer Service for Lab Corp gave me a chance to interact with customers, problem solve on a very large scale and then be able to resolve an issue to a customer's satisfaction.
I also acted as a technical support person for physicians and nursing staff who might have questions about which test might best meet their needs.
Experience in the areas of Blood bank, Hematology, Chemistry and Urinalysis. I had extensive experience with instrumentation in the Chemistry department including schooling by the manufacturers and then installing and maintaining the instruments.
I had excellent mentors in the medical technology field. The smaller hospital atmosphere allowed communication with doctors and patients.
My experience taught me responsibility in my work and ethical behavior in my profession. It was invaluable.
Coursework in Medical Laboratory Technology
I served for a two year period as president of my condominium association. During that period I was involved in researching and contacting references for a new management company.

A good friend and I started a Quilting Business that is about 3 years old now. The business is growing one or two customers at a time and is truly more an act of love than it is a money maker.
