Currently deployed to North Afghanistan as a member of 3-7 Cavalry in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. At this point I have successfully conducted over 100 combat missions as a member of a scout reconnaissance platoon. Missions include training of local national police and border patrol units, providing security in order for senior ranking officers to conduct key leader engagements with local and regional political personnel, and providing mounted security patrols of major supply routes into and out of Afghanistan.
I currently serve as member of a reconnaissance platoon. We gather and report information on terrain features and enemy strength, disposition and equipment. Apply principles of escape and evasion. I was responsible for the accountability, issue, receipt, cleanliness, maintenance and serviceability of all weapons and ammunition as well as any non-lethal weapons, and personal protective equipment for which custody is assigned. We were responsible for all non depot-level maintenance of weapons and also at times requested to support security training and law enforcement personnel on the use and care of weapons to include qualification and re-qualification training.
Performed as a team leader in support of battlefield operations, supervised small sections tasked with installation law and order operations and security of Army resources and installations.
Provided the Navy with security while performing antiterrorism, force protection, physical security, and law enforcement duties on land and at sea. As a member of the Navy's security force protection I was able to be trained in among various other things, operation of watercraft, how to conduct an investigation, control a base access point. I also worked directly with our Military Working Dogs in order to provide superior explosive detection and suspect apprehensions.
