Caring for a wide variety of patients by immobilizing a broken bone with a cast or splint under the direct supervision of an orthopedic surgeon or physician assistant. We are taught many different molds of casts and splints that are used depending on type of injury. After patient is provided with care, we finalize with documentation. Aside from this, we assist the roles of the medical assistant by helping remove post-op sutures, staples and pins, as well as cleaning wound area and applying necessary protective dressings. We are not limited to these roles as they are just the primary duties of what we do on a day-to-day basis.
Patient Care Experience: 226 hours
Working under the supervision of a physical therapist by helping direct patients through prescribed warm-up exercises to restore function and decrease pain. Duties included but not limited to providing e-stem, heat or ice, as well as the Vasopneumatic device which acts as a cold compression device and assists by decreasing swelling and increasing circulation to treated area.

As I learn more about the healthcare industry and being exposed to different employment and internship opportunities, my love for people and providing care has grown tremendously. My goal is to be able to continue schooling and portray the best image of my career as a healthcare professional, and to grow every day in my experience and leadership skills. Becoming a Physician's Assistant will alow me to give everything I have in areas of need, and to provide the necessary knowledge to help individuals live a healthy life and overcome current or potential disease.
