Accomplished business owner offering 9 years of progressive experience. Skillfully create and maintain professional and loyal relationships with co-workers, staff and clients while effectively managing a business. Comfortable working independently or as a team member. Looking for a career in a business that I can put my skills to work and maintain a long term commitment to a business.
I was the owner and operator of a restaurant in Minonk, IL. The business was open 7 days a week when I first opened up and eventually I decided to close on Sundays as business was to slow to compensate being open. I did all of the ordering of any of the supplies needed in all areas and also assisted in putting away the supplies as they came in. I would assist in the kitchen with food prep, cooking if someone needed a break, organization of the kitchen and the staffing of employees there. I also, worked out front bar tending as needed, waitress, or just floating where ever help was needed. I did all of the hiring or firing of employees along with their schedules. I handled all contact with salesmen. I took care of any complaints or issues with customers on a day to day basis. Organized any fundraisers or worked with companies to complete fundraisers at my business. If the business was open I was there and even when it was closed I was there completing things that needed to be done. The building was a rental and it was a very old building with many issues. The building was not energy efficient in any way, so all of the utilities were extremely high. I took care of many issues at this building during the short time I was there including: 2 hot water heaters, new carpet and linoleum, repairing the 2 AC units for the building, and numerous plumbing issues. Eventually I had to make the decision to close my business as I could not continue to do these things and expect to make any kind of a profit. It was an extremely difficult decision to close this business, however I had an opportunity to be involved in a family business venture which unfortunately did not work out.
I opened and ran a bar in Streator, IL for just over a years time frame. I completed all of the ordering of all supplies and completed all work with any salesmen. I worked open to close everyday for 7 days a week and eventually closed on Sundays due to the fact the business was not profitable on this day. I put all supplies away and did all of the bar tending and eventually hired a few staff to assist with the bar tending during the busy weekend hours. I was really hoping to incorporate food into this business but the building did not have a kitchen and couldn't afford to update a rented building to incorporate this. I was able to find a building that I could make a bar and grill, so I closed this business in order to fully pursue this.
I opened a property preservation company, which is cleaning and maintaining of the foreclosed homes in order to get them ready for resale. I sub-contracted with companies that maintained Freddie Mac, and Fannie Mae properties on a daily basis. I employed an average of 8 employees in order to maintain all the work that was completed. Groups would be sent out in different areas with a list of work to complete. I worked with several different companies during the 5yrs as contracts are moved from company to company. This was a very physical job when it came to emptying all items from a property that was left behind and the short time frames alloyed for me to complete work. I completed all of the invoicing and bids that were needed for any work. I would go out on the job everyday and then come home at night to complete all of the invoicing. I decided to make a change in my career and opened a bar.
I was hired at the hospital as an EKG tech on the afternoon shift part-time for 1yr. I would be the only tech on duty when I worked and also had to do work in the central supply dept during your shift. Many times I was asked to help out in the ER, and in order for me to feel like I was helping asked to be trained in this dept. During the time I was training a job opening came about and I decided to take this job and worked here for 2yrs. I loved working in the ER, as it was very intense and high demand. It gave me the opportunity to be hands on in life and death situations, however this was also a part-time position. A job opening came up in the OR and I decided to take this job as it was a full-time position. I would take patients to and from surgeries, assist in the OR with set-up of the room and prepping patients for surgeries. I would always strive to do as much as I could do to assist the nurses. I also ordered many of the supplies for the dept as well and assisted the schedule desk as well. I left this career when I opened my property preservation company.
