Started training in Karate in 1968 in Washington, DC at the DC Recreation Center. From 1968-1973 I trained and competed in various Karate Tournaments in the DC Metropolitan area which included DC, Maryland and Virginia. While competing I attended Livingstone College in North Carolina where I received my BA Degree in History in 1976. upon graduation I returned to the Washington, DC area and worked for the City Recreation Department. My duties included teaching Karate Classes, and overseeing other recreational activities such as Softball, Conditioning and Field Activities.
In 1977, I attended Southern Illinois University on a Graduate Fellowship with a major in Recreation Administration/ Education. I taught several Karate Classes for the University's Physical Education Department. I continued competing with more attention placed teaching and presenting material that would assist the students in fulfilling health and fitness goals. I was a goal -oriented and energetic Karate Instructor/ Boxing Coach with a talent for motivating students with enthusiasm and encouragement. I would jog with my Classes and go thru techniques and teach by example.
I graduated in 1980 and moved to Cedar City, Utah and worked for the College's Upward Bound Program. I taught Karate within the Program for 1 year and moved to Los Angeles, California. I worked for the Beverly Hills Recreation Department and worked with the Youth Program and taught Karate & Fitness. 1981 I started working for the LA County Probation Department. I worked in Juvenile Hall, Juvenile Camp and Field Services (Juvenile & Adult Gang Supervision). During this time, I taught at LA City College and USC (University Of Southern California) at USC I taught Karate & Conditioning thru the Physical Education Department.
In 1986 thru my training I was able to enter the Motion Picture Business as a Stunt Performer. I retired from the Probation Department in 2015 and since that time I have been teaching Boxing at Afterburn Fitness in Santa Clarita, California.
