Due to my various job experiences, I am able to work extremely well with people in multiple different settings. Because I have a strong retail and customer service background as well as a great background in child care, I have developed exceptional communication skills and I have great problem-solving skills. I am great at team-building and I am great at building rapports with customers, clients, children, and parents. I am able to adapt quickly to different types of environments, which helps me exceed in all work settings. I have an amazing work ethic and I am very determined to finish tasks with precision in a timely fashion.
I had the ability to intern with Jenna Samaha, the School Psychologist, at the Monroe Middle School. This internship provided me many opportunities to work with all types of students, staff, and within the school as a whole. Throughout my internship, I assisted Mrs. Samaha in her daily activities as a School Psychologist. During my internship, I spent a significant amount of time in special education classrooms working with students with various amounts of needs, such as emotional-behavioral disabilities, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and significant health needs. I also had the ability to collaborate with the Monroe Middle School's leadership team on a frequent basis. I took part in a variety of problem-solving conversations in regards to students' individual behavioral challenges, social-emotional needs, and attendance concerns, as well as broader concepts like resource considerations, academic and social-emotional screenings, state-wide assessments, and building procedures. I was also given the ability to shadow the evaluation for special education and was also given the opportunity to help Mrs. Samaha in the selection, administration, scoring, and interpretation of the assessments. As well as that, I had the ability to work and communicate with student's parents' during annual IEP meetings.
During my high school volleyball season, I volunteered by coaching kids every Monday during an after school program in different aspects of volleyball. As well as coaching volleyball, I was a part of Key Club while I was in high school where I helped organize different events and projects that helped give back to my community. Some examples of activities and events we created for the Monroe community is "Books on The Bus", school dances, community movie nights, etc. alongside my community's Kiwanis Club. During my college career at the University of Wisconsin Platteville, I have volunteered through some of my classes to help set up Neighborhood Health Partners in Platteville. I also was an academic tutor for Platteville Middle School's after school homework club. I also had the ability to attend a Political Science field trip to New Orleans, Louisiana, where I learned about the housing crisis after Hurricane Katrina and I volunteered alongside a construction company to help build low-income housing for families who are still facing the after-effects of Hurricane Katrina.
During high school, I was placed on high honor roll all four years I attended. I was awarded captain all four years of my club volleyball experience and received floor captain all four years of school volleyball. Throughout college, I was honored on the Dean's List multiple times and I was accepted into the National Society of Honor Students, the National Society of Leadership and Success, and the Psi Chi Psychology Honors Society at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
