The explorer program was the first step to start exploring a future career as a law enforcement professional. The academy was not only educational in the workings of law enforcement and criminal justice but also afforded me the chance to participate in many opportunities while in the program. Including, safety day at elementary school, holiday toy drive, DUI check point assistance, assisted in front desk support for the CSPD Operations Center and ride alongs with patrol officers.

Being a member of the El Paso County 4-H program from 2006 to 2012 I was involved in a number of roles to help benefit our community, county and our state. As a club, county and state delegate and officer we held and participated in many events such as cleaning and adopting highways, food drives and benefits to support local communities. The 4-H program not only allowed me to help give back to my community, it also allowed the chance to better my skills in leadership, public speaking and team building.
