CANCER TREATMENT CENTER, Kaiser Permanente Hospital - ASSISTANT DIRECTOR RADIATION ONCOLOGYSanta Clara, CA05/2015 - Current
  • Manages the daily operations for the Radiation Oncology Department, overseeing 50+ employees in an ambulatory care setting with emphasis on treatment planning and treatment delivery.
  • Manages with Director all administrative, technical, clinical and clerical operations of the Radiation Oncology Department to ensure quality, access and budget goals are achieved.
  • Participates in the planning of imaging equipment and efficiency operations.
  • Assists in daily billing charges for treatment planning and delivery.
  • Develops and monitors payroll and non-payroll budgets for the department.
  • Identifies the implement opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Accountable for adherence to the state and federal rules and regulations on safety, ensures compliance with the Joint Commission/Survey Readiness, CDPH-RHB Federal, State, and Local agencies.
  • Works closely with Director and oversees the departments medical staff including: Front Desk Reception, Registered Nurses (RN), Charge Nurse, Medical Assistants (MA), License Vocational Nurse (LVN), Radiation Oncologist, Dosimetrist, Physicist, Lead Radiation Therapist, Radiation Therapist (RTT), Social Worker, Dietician, Administrative Services Supervisor, System (IT) and the Northern Regional Leadership Team (San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento and Dublin).
  • Works closely with the daily operations of dosimetry and brachytherapy procedures involving interstitial, intracavitary prostate and gynecological cases.
  • Works closely with the Brachytherapy Anesthesia Team for pre-procedure and post procedure recovery.
  • Participates in the brachytherapy audits.
  • Responsible for the delivery of quality services, department goals, MPS Scores, PROMPT, best practices, and workflow changes for operational improvement.
  • Influence staff engagement through UBT, workplace safety, daily huddles, which includes monthly departmental meetings.
  • Interviews and hires new staff members, onboarding , maintaining yearly competencies and annual performance reviews.
  • Responsible for coaching, corrective/disciplinary action.
  • Maintaining current staff members continuing education, license and certifications.
  • Collaborating with (UNION) UHW, United Healthcare Workers and CNA California Nursing Association, HR Compliance and adheres to and strongly influences all policies and procedures both Santa Clara Hospital and Radiation Oncology.
  • Participates in the COC, Commission on Cancer Committee, Seeds of Hope and assisted in APEX Accreditation for meeting the standards of ASTRO for the Santa Clara Radiation Oncology Cancer Center.
  • Streamlined the innovation of two major Northern California Kaiser Permanente Projects involving the Construction/Renovation and Software Upgrade for state-of-the-art equipment/Software involving CT-GE-Discovery installation, Aria software upgrade 15.5, installation of 3-Truebeams Accelerators, HDR Procedure and equipment (nstallation and training for Bravos afterloader and BodyTom mobile CT) in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
  • Lead the Cancer Treatment Center renovation in 2019 upgrading interally the entire Cancer Treatment Center.
  • Participates and advocates in the daily Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center COVID-19 Protocol requirements for employees and patients.
KAISER PERMANENTE HOSPITAL - LEAD RADIATION THERAPISTOntario, CA12/2005 - 05/2015

Maintains daily operations including staff of 23+ employees. Departmental Leadership duties: assuming and completing staff therapist responsibilities, acting as a role model for other staff members, demonstrating application of established standards and policies, annual competency and evaluations of all RTT's, assisting co-workers with readjustment of priorities for patient care when workload changes, contributing to orientation, education, training and evaluation of clinicians, peers and students and behaves in a professional accountable manner at all times, promoting accountability in self and peers, led the rebuild and organization of the Ontario Radiation Department Expansion, manages the daily billing and coding procedures, conducts quarterly Quality Assurance of the department and orders medical supplies, practices effective verbal communication, scheduling procedures within the department, works closely with the nursing staff, physicians, physics staff, social worker, dosimetrist, front desk reception and support staff. Acts as the liaison between the physicians and radiation therapist, used radiation therapy equipment to deliver prescribed dosages to specific body parts, prepared patients for treatments in accordance with prescription and care plan data. Provided excellent service and attention to customers.
