Responsible for maintaining, enhancing and overseeing an information security program, including the governance, management, and advising on or coordinating as appropriate, the information security efforts across the organization. Advises and collaborates on development of continuity and disaster recovery plans, audit, vendor management, and regulatory compliance practices for the public sector.
A key member of the department's management team. The work of this position emphasizes the management, coordination, and planning of all functions of a major organizational unit of the Information Technology Department. The major organizational units consist of Application or production services, technical services, digital media and communications, and storage services. Responsible for data center, telecommunications, network communication and technical services to maintain the road racing track, and hosted national sanctioned events.
Primary assignment: Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) for the Deputy Chief of Staff, Information Technology (DCSIT)

Create, maintain, monitor, and report network perimeter security and NAT policies on a Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) and F5-BIG-IP server load balancer with the information security/assurance team.
Mentor junior staff by providing feedback and coaching to help them solve problems independently, and develop more advanced skills.
Part of team for identifying, reporting, investigating and responding to security breaches (hack attempts, exploits, and vulnerability attacks), data leaks, PII spills and cyber-related incidents. Lead incident response efforts, network-monitoring activities (including documentation, scanning, mitigation activities, and identification of suspicious traffic, exploits and unusual activity). Monitor and report as well as advise, recommend and design systems to enhance or to increase the security posture of the DLIFLC environment and support the DLI educational mission.
Performed technical planning, design, testing, integration, quality assurance, and management and maintenance of the DLIFLC's wired and wireless network. Vendors supported include; Palo Alto Networks firewalls, F5 BIG-IP proxies/network load balancers, Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager, Brocade routers, and network switches.
Troubleshoot network problems and develop recovery procedures; install, test, maintain and upgrade network operating systems software; and ensure rigorous application of information security/assurance in accordance to DISA STIGs in a DoD 8570.1M environment. Configure and troubleshoot enterprise systems and software, including Aruba Clearpass Policy Manager, Windows Network Policy Server, eIQ Networks SecureVue SIEM, SolarWinds, and InMon Traffic Sentinel network monitoring tools; engaging appropriate teams when developing solutions in order to understand and incorporate multiple perspectives and needs.
Provided IT technical services: network administration, systems administration, network domain management, and computer operations support. Performed cost-benefit analysis of potential system upgrades to support purchase decisions including, technical planning, design, testing, integration, quality assurance, and management and maintenance. Malware prevention, removal and recovery. Performed forensic analysis of compromised networks and provided solutions to improve security posture. Presented solutions and strategies to individuals with different levels of understanding; using various methods to explain and convey information. Formulated, defined and documented system specifications. Mobile device support, wireless infrastructure design, and management. Troubleshooting complex or sensitive problems by developing alternative solutions through software or hardware.
