Developed this nonprofit (that provides support services to children with chronic illnesses and disabilities and their families) from a primarily volunteer-run entity that provided very few services to an organization that provides the following services:
Successfully wrote grants that paid staff costs and provided funding to reimburse families for in-home respite, camp scholarships, medical equipment and supplies, doctor and therapy costs, and parent training.
Hired and trained staff and volunteers.
Provided numerous presentations for local civic organizations, churches, businesses and university classes.
Provided presentations during grand-rounds at the local regional hospital.Â
Provided one-on-one training from pediatric residents.
Collaborated with numerous agencies, including the Aging and Disability Resource Center, the local Early Childhood Intervention, the Area Agency on Aging, the local MHMR, and the Independent Living Center to provide more and better services for families affected by disabilities in the area.
