Supervisor: Manage daily operations, staffing and workflow for 8 anesthesia technicians and 11 operative service assistants (OSA's). Coordinate daily and call schedules, evaluate staffing needs, conduct new hire interviews, assist with creation and adherence to annual budgets. Achieve departmental goals and objectives by instituting new processes and standards. Oversee all anesthesia and OSA related orientation, training, precepting, and competency completion. In-service all staff on new anesthesia protocols, equipment and practice changes.
Lead Anesthesia Technician:
Manager: Responsible for staff work/call scheduling, interviewing/hiring of all aides and anesthesia techs, as well as development and adherence to annual anesthesia budget. Perform staff evaluations, set departmental goals, ensure staff and stand alone gas lab compliance with regulatory requirements. Complete charges and order all anesthesia supplies, gasses, and equipment.
Anesthesia Technician: Assist providers with routine/emergency airway management, line placement, sedation, and monitoring in Level 1 Trauma, transplant, cardiac, and daily cases. Clean and troubleshoot Draeger machines, GE Monitoring, Haemonetics, and Medtronic equipment. Stock anesthesia carts, replenish drug supply, ensure appropriate equipment/supplies sterile and available. Set up and turn over operating suites, transport patients, prepare for and back up providers in out of department cases. Operate hematology monitoring equipment, Level 1 Fluid infuser, and cell saver.
Assist anesthesiologist and residents with monitor placements, positioning, intubations, blocks, line/catheter assertions, epidurals and out of department cases. Independently insert intravenous and arterial catheters. Prepare IV's/medications, set up and stock rooms, change circuits, restock drug carts. Ensure proper functioning and cleaning of anesthesia machines, tools and equipment. Operate cell saver, Hepcon, and I-stat during cardiac cases. Transport patients to and from procedures in department and throughout hospital.
