While researching the different academic options Towson University has to offer, the Honors College really intrigued me. My close family friend, Bella Jurovich, attends the Towson Honors College and highly recommended it to me when I discussed my options with her. Bella is in the nursing program and she is involved in the Honors College Leadership Committee; I would be interested in getting involved with similar committees and extracurriculars if accepted. I also admire that the Honors college offers direct experiential learning. Internships and hands-on learning opportunities are ideal for my career pathway and will garner more advanced qualifications for my future.

After all schools systems were closed in March due to the Corona Virus, my 8-year-old sister and I had to convert to online-learning. This was difficult for my family because my dad worked all day and my mom was struggling with mental health issues at the time; my sister was left struggling to understand math, because this subject is very hard for her. I knew my sister was falling behind after the first couple weeks, so I started to tutor her a few days a week. I would help her understand the topics she was learning about and make sure that all of her weekly assignments were completed and turned in. This definitely affected my ability to put all of my focus into my studies, but I adapted quite well to this extra responsibility. Even though this took away from my study time I felt relief in knowing my sister was still getting a proper education. Because of our current pandemic it was also difficult for me to achieve the SAT score I was hoping for. I was only able to take the SAT one time and the score I received was decent, but it does not reflect my full academic capability in my opinion.
