Army National Guard-547th Transportation Company – Washington, DC
    Based on Commander's guidance, I develop objectives and goals for the platoon in support of the mission and I coordinate with and delegate tasks to platoon and section sergeants to accomplish goals in the most efficient manner. I am responsible for the functional planning, coordination, procurement and control of the movement of materiel, personnel, and personal property on military transport; and the correlation of all facets of transportation pertaining to water, air, highway, rail and multi-modal transport systems including the assessment of transportation capabilities and the integration of transport functions, facilities, and plans. I constantly review and analyze logistic policies and procedures to streamline processes. Most importantly, I am responsible for the health and welfare of over 50 Soldiers. Other responsibilities include: Convoy Commander: This includes giving safety briefs, conducting vehicle and personnel equipment check, coordinate and supervise marshalling and out-loading of the unit enforcing the rules of the road, and unit movement planning. UMO (Unit Movement Officer): Overall responsible for planning and execution of any movement performed by the unit to include establishing roadway usability and providing traffic management as a highway regulation planner. I am also responsible for coordinating with government and civilian airlines, trains (rails), and vessels to conduct troop movement. Ex: SDDC, PSA, CSX, SMCC, CRAF. Train Soldiers in realistic deployment situations in moving elements (vehicles). Prepare the unit's passenger or cargo manifest based on mode of transportation and planned transport vehicles allocated. Other duties include writing performance counseling statements and NCO Evaluation Reports (NCOERs), maintaining accountability of soldiers and sensitive items, and coordinating military events, writing operation orders and executing missions, performing duties as Safety Officer and Sexual Harassment Officer and other duties as assigned. Other duties include:

  • Gathered, logged and monitored all shipping data.
  • Monitored the workshop work flow for over 50 soldiers.
  • Supervised the work of 200 transportation personnel.
  • Prioritized order security, accuracy and on-time pickup and delivery.
