I was a Nanny/Tutor for two young children who are currently in the first and third grade. I pride myself for curating both student’s lesson plans in accordance with their academic strengths and weaknesses, as well as personal likes and dislikes. I have created countless games and activities to better suit my third-grade student’s dyslexia and over the years he has had dramatic improvement in his spelling and reading, as can be seen in the increase in average grade for his common spelling tests. I’ve worked at my family’s place of business since I was old enough to walk. Over the years, I’ve learned countless life lessons about people, the nature of interacting with a customer as a businessperson, and how to naturally interact with a client I was providing a service for. Fortunately, I’ve also had the opportunity to learn about bookkeeping software as well as our personalized company software. I was the person responsible for educating our staff about the software, assisting salesmen with technical issues, and was responsible for preparing paperwork for each employee’s use. I was put in charge of keeping account of money coming into and out of the office, as well as answering phones, taking payments, and setting up payment plans for customers. As head lab assistant, I worked on strategizing research efforts in the university herbarium and botany lab. My duties included organizing plant files by genus, species, and country of origin. I began the effort to scan photos of pressed plant specimen files Dr. Holmes (Director of the research lab and herbarium) had been collecting since the 1960's. I scanned over 4,000 specimens within the 3 years I worked in the lab. I also assisted in organizing photos and information by chapters for a botany publication with Dr. Holmes entitled "The Color of Springtime" as well as a collection of the species of plants within Limestone County. I routinely was in the field collecting specimens with various classes Dr. Holmes directed, and assisted in finding and mapping invasive species in Waco. TX.
