I understand my vocational call as more of counselor than an active pastor. I came to Campbell to get a better understanding of the church and the functions that operate within the kingdom. However, I am more drawn to the counseling side of ministry where I can be more hands on and encourage people in a creative style. I love to sit and listen to people's narrative of their lives and help facilitate their change within their speech and mindset. I honestly want to help people and I have found that being present with them in crisis situations is a good way to show them that God has not forgotten about them.
I feel that I have gained a few skills in becoming a counselor that will not only be helpful to those inside the church but also to the secular world. I have been able to assist with deescalating and stabilizing people of different ages and cultures with the various secular jobs that I have retained. I also am able to help people find and focus on the more positive parts of their lives sometimes through religious practices when mentioned. I have also learned to build a quick rapport with others in able to speak and encourage them.
My core values are that I love God, myself and my family and in that order. What are you "about" as a person and a minister? I love helping people and I want to help people like someone helped me, and that was by showing me that I was special and encouraging me to work to my fullest potential.
