3/2016-6/2016 Daybreak Youth Services - EWU Children's Studies Intern
I interned at Daybreak Youth Services, a treatment facility for adolescent girls with the goal of understanding the integrated treatment model, dialectical behavioral therapy and building relationships with community supports to help teens in treatment. I observed the clients and participated in their daily routines of school, recreational activities, and group therapy sessions until I was prepared to model DBT skills in areas such as Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and other appropriate skills when crisis arose during their daily life. Other duties included engaging in and supervising group outings and events and documenting the clients' demonstration of DBT skills and providing verbal and written feedback.

Volunteer in Schools 03/2014-06/2014 Medical Lake High School -Reading and Math tutor
I worked as a scheduled and on-call tutor for high school freshman and seniors in subjects such as reading comprehension and math. For 4 months I created and implemented individualized lesson plans, study guides and practice tests for students in preparation for testing, including the ASVAB test and reading comprehension packets as a study guide to the novel Holes for another student.
