(1995-1998) - Worked as a rental tech for 3 years - Maintain and prepare rental generators/cables per customer requirements. This was foundation of my career at NC Power, providing a basic understanding of power generation/AC voltage along with all fundamentals associated with this field. I obtained a good baseline and understanding for T/S and repairing Cat Portable Generators.
(1998-2000) - Worked in the Prep Shop and more advanced field work. This greatly improved my T/S skills and my abilities and confidence to do more advanced EPG repairs. I also started to evolve into building ISO portable generators for rental dept. as well as custom units for our customers. Understanding the processes and importance of organized larger projects and the impact of budgets, quoting and flat rate labor jobs.
(2000-2007) - My career had evolved into overseeing larger projects and primarily building ISO Marine Containers for Northland. These custom ISO 40' containers were designed and built to power up to 40 reefer containers on barges that traveled from Seattle to Anchorage AK. I primarily focuses on building these ISO containers for the next 7 years and improving the process along with quality. These were a reliable and profitable revenue oportunity for NC Power during these 7 years.
(2008-2009) - NC Power got into the locomotive business at this time. We landed a contract with Amtrak to install 11 - C18 HEP units into locomotives. My primary focus was build/install these C18's into locomotives over the next 2 years. We built these 11 custom C18 HEP packages per Amtrak's specifications. These packages were completed/installed/tested with great success into 11-F59PH Locomotives.
(2010-2013) - The Amtrak Locomotive business had evolved into 21 more units to be installed over the next 2 years. The scope of work and labor also increased at this time. We were contracted to install 21-C32 genset packages along with completely new electrical system upgrades. I focused primarily on building these C32 custom skid packages to meet customer specifications. I was mainly responsible for building/installing/testing these packages to meet customer specifications. I did also assist with the electrical upgrades on these locomotives. We completed all 21 of these F59PH locomotive conversions successfully and on schedule. I also flew down to LA several times over the following year to provide operator training along with completing warrantable repairs and complete additional upgrades we encountered over the following year. In 2013 after Amtrak units were completed I did another year of field repair work and CVA work till 2014 when I accepted a supervisor position within the company.
