The Honor’s Program established by the college, challenges highly motivated, intellectually gifted students who wish to attain a higher education at a reasonable cost. These students come to the college well prepared and are greeted by LCC instructors with innovative, creative, and challenging courses to further nourish their educational quest. The mission of the Honors program at Laredo Community College is to provide an inspiring, rigorous academic environment for students who are able and ready to accept the competitive challenge of higher education. Laredo Community College Honors Program is committed in providing for these students a progressive course of study that provides new challenges to their exceptional abilities, preparing them for advanced studies at major four-year institutions. Under the tutelage of highly skilled faculty mentors students are prepared for raising a standard of excellence while preparing today’s students for a lifetime of leadership. It is the goal of the Honors Program at Laredo Community College to encourage students to become outstanding, independent thinkers as well as learners. This enables these students to master critical thinking skills and self-expression. Encouragement is given to students to engage in productive teamwork, thus enabling them to master the life lesson of working collaboratively along with members of the community.
TACHE is a professional association committed to the improvement of educational and employment opportunities for Hispanics in higher education. TACHE's purpose is to provide state, regional, and local forums for the discussion of issues related to Chicanos/Latinos in higher education and to collaborate with institutions of higher learning to create workable solutions for these issues. The goal of TACHE is educational advocacy (to articulate educational problems, needs, and issues related to Chicanos/Latinos in higher education).
The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
The mission of the Associated Student Organization (ASO) is to provide Laredo Community College students with representation, services, and advocacy within the community college structure. The ASO provides quality leadership for, and accountability to, its constituency by recognizing that strength arises from diversity, engagement, and dialogue.
