Postgraduate Professional VA Teaching License~expires June 2023
I have spent the past 19 years in the field of education, teaching at both the elementary and high school levels. Before I began my career as a licensed teacher I was a substitute and volunteer for Head Start in Madison and Orange. I also worked with the two years at Malcolm W. Cole Child Care Center in Charlottesville. I am passionate about meeting the needs of children with emphasis on their overall well-being. I enjoy learning from others and sharing what I have learned through my years of experience with other teachers. I spent many years as a collaborative teacher in the general education classroom, I have worked with a variety of specialists to learn how to best help my students in the classroom setting. I provided Speech and Language services for two years in Madison County, where I became very familiar with the process of identifying children with special educational needs and assisting with drafting their IEP goals, attending, facilitating meetings, implementing strategies to reach goals and collect data to help determine the next step. I also was a cooperating teacher for a student teacher while teaching for Louisa County Public Schools.
