Provided fiscal and administrative support to the City of Ames Police Department including the preparation and management of the department's annual budget; supervised and supported the Records Division (1 manager and 3 staff), the Communications Center (1 manager and 12 emergency communications dispatchers), and a principal clerk; managed day-to-day financial operations for the department; managed larger, special capital improvements including the implementation of a countywide law enforcement focused information management system and the physical renovation of the police department space in Ames City Hall; provided fiscal and planning support to Parking Division and the Animal Sheltering and Control Division; supported the department's federal, state, and local grant activity from application through purchases and to closeout; coordinated activities with other city departments including Information Technology, Purchasing, Fleet Services and the City Attorney's office; served as the department's representative on several multi-jurisdictional organizations including the Story County Radio Project Working Group and as the chair of the MultiAgency Public Safety Group;

Served as the Dean of Students Office Student Advocate, advised and advocated for students with university related problems and conflicts, both academic and social; provided information and advise on university policies and processes; advised staff, students, and student organizations on general legal concept such as sexual harassment, state and local criminal laws, and constitutional issues.

Served as Interim dean of Students from August of 1994 to May of 1995 with administrative responsibility for Judicial Affairs, Student Advocacy, Tutoring, the Academic Learning Lab (including a federally funded student opportunity grant), Adult Student Services, the Women's Center, the Off-Campus Center, Student Legal Services, fraternity and sorority affairs, recreation and intramurals, Disabled Student Services, student organizations and the Student Activity Center. Oversaw a staff of 21 professionals, 16 clerical, and 17 graduate students.
