SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
Professional Summary

My goal is to to secure a challenging and responsible position in which my experience and education will have valuable application.

I am a Special Education teacher with over eight years of experience in student success. I have an excellent reputation for resolving problems and improving student achievement. I am self-motivated in bringing leadership, organization and dynamic communication skills to promote successful education delivery. I have experience with a team of five within my classroom, independently solving problems and keeping the teams on task to handle diverse teacher student matters. I have assisted in creating and monitoring old and new policies regarding AMI and AMI-X, develop a positive school culture with in my team, and mentor educators.

My greatest strengths as a teacher are flexibility to differentiate my core instruction in order to meet the needs of all my students. I have students work independently, in a whole group, in pairs and in small groups. Therefore, they have a chance to not only learn from me but also from others as well as themselves. I provide positive feedback frequently to encourage students to ask questions, participate in discussion as well as group activities. Positive and verbal praise also supports with reinforcing good behavior and decreasing inappropriate behavior.

I am willing to take constructive criticism and advice from other teachers as well as my supervisors. I would apply the advice given if it meant the chances of helping a single student and evaluate my lessons constantly.

I am flexible. I set high expectations for all my students regardless of their abilities and motivate to engage my students. I do this by showing my enthusiasm about the lesson, being knowledgeable in the subject and findingout what the students are interested in so that I can integrate that in my lesson and activities.

My philosophy of classroom management is there should be a unified classroom agreement between all students to respect others as you would want respected. The teacher should have a positive teacher and student relationship of trust and respect. A procedure and consequence list would be posted on the wall for all to see in the case someone forgets what the classroom expectations are. The classroom should be quiet when others are working but yet the students feel free to ask questions when needed by raising their hand. I have a calming nature personality and like a less formal classroom atmosphere but expect cooperative learning. Lots of verbal praise exercised and positive reinforcement used in different ways to reinforce continued good behavior. Engaged participation in all activities is a must. Part of learning is to become involved in your own learning.
