I have encouraged students to explore the world and not to settle for less than what is available for them, with hard work and perseverance. In between working as a Special educator, I have had the blessing of teaching in a few private Christian schools. The Christian School experience helped me make it through the Special Education times in SCCPSS, which is very challenging. The public sector of Special Ed is full of families who need so much more in the area of education than they have received. As a teacher I have worked closely with school social workers, counselors, behavior centers, etc. I have provided groceries, power bill money, gasoline, clothes, shoes, etc. to students many times. These are challenging times for all.
