Hi, my name is Alex Payne. I am an detail-oriented Special Education Paraprofessional for Preschool students with well-established knowledge of lesson planning and individual student learning strategies. I have worked with students and children with special needs such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Sensory impairments, ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression. My passion is in therapy, and I would love to become a licensed psychologist or social worker. Since graduating from High school, I have researched Stress Management in relationship to Anxiety and depression, volunteered with troubled teens, taken part in International Service trips, worked with Refugee students, and supported youth with Autism.
Some hobbies/interests of mine include, traveling, photography, cooking, and making art. I am interested in Eastern spirituality, philosophy & traditions. I practice yoga, mindfulness, meditation, tai chi, and energy healing.
Anything outdoors I enjoy. From trail running, hiking, climbing, kayaking, biking, camping and swimming.

Humane Society of Utah (2015-)
-Walking, fostering, and grooming animals at the Animal Shelter. Cleaning pens, and building maintenance.
Special Education Aid in High school (2016)
-Student support in attending, following directions. completing school work.
Study hall aid for Refugee students (2016)
-Math tutor, homework helper, communication.
Real life (2018)
-Real Life is a peer mentoring program with a life skills curriculum benefiting refugee and immigrant teens in Salt Lake area, offered to Youthlinc Service Year students, and other community volunteers. As volunteers, we assisted in homework, played games and held interactive activities for the kids to help socially and behaviorally.
Goodwill Easter Seals (2018)
-Peer mentoring program designed to support youth with Autism in real life working environments. Focusing on communication skills, following routines, and task management.
The Christmas House Box (2018)
-The Christmas Box is an International charity that works to prevent child abuse. Housing and protecting children, teens, and young adults who are victims of abuse, neglect, trafficking or are facing homelessness or other risks. I volunteered here as a helper for after school activities, dinner, and night time routine.
Youthlinc International Service trip to Thailand (2018)
-The Youthlinc Service Year is to engage high school and college students in their local communities and communities abroad by volunteering 80 hours of local service, then taking a 2 week service trip to a selected location in the world.
Youthlinc Service trip to Fiji (2019)
-This trip I was an Alumni member which is a selected student to support other students on the trip. Alumni focus on team work, inclusion, breaking up cliques, creating safe environments, and being a team confidant.
