SRPS is a new company started in 2005 to educate the local public about the benefits of using solar photovoltaic panels to help power their home or business. SRPS began installing PV systems in 2009 with the help of different financial incentives from government and state grants. I came on board in 2010 to help with their first residential client installing an 8kW grid interactive system on the roof. From there, we installed systems from 2kW ground mounts to 180kW dual axis trackers. All systems are grid interactive due to the TVA Generation Partners Program that pays clients a premium above retail for every kW produced onto the grid. In 2011, I was promoted to Site Foreman over my own install crew. That same year, I trained with EverBlue to earn my certifications as a Building Analyst and Building Envelope Professional to expand SRPS's portfolio of services to include Energy Auditing.
D&L is a major HAVC contracting company for industrial plants across the U.S. I was assigned to the Nucor Yamata Steel mill in Blytheville, AR. There I worked with nine other techs and a supervisor to maintain all HVAC systems in the plant and office buildings. Systems ranged from 5 ton striaght air units to water chilled units as large as 50 tons. Scheduled testing and maintenance were preformed daily with after hours call out for emergency issues. Records were kept on each unit to show patterns in problems with units to budget for repair or replacement.
Sodexo is a sub contracting agent for large manufacturing companies. My responsibilities included all HVAC equipment testing and maintenance. The plant used 152 different HVAC units ranging from 5 ton to 70 ton straight air units. Temperature and Humidity are a major factor in major food processing manufacturers. I scheduled routine testing and maintenance for each unit with priority given to units helping maintain a set level of humidity. Records were kept on each unit to better see up coming problems and to prepare for both scheduling of replacement or budgeting.
I tested and maintained Taylor soft serve equipment in major fast food restaurants within a 150 mile radius of Memphis. Scheduled daily service calls for clients via email to cut down on paperwork and drive time. Maintained company van records and parts inventory for increased company profitability.
I studied electrical components and electrical safety with HAVC systems. Then moved on to refrigeration theory and process. I also completed studies in air conditioning, heat pump, gas heat, electric heat and water cooled systems and in refrigeration. I took advantage of numerous opportunities to test and repair HAVC systems on campus and off under supervision of my instructor.
