I am a hard-working individual who makes the most of the opportunities at hand. I am also very self-motivated and I always set very high goals for myself. In addition, I do not mind dealing with people to solve challenges that may lie in the path of the desired objective. My community service and shadowing track record show I am committed to building experience in any science related field, and it shows I enjoy helping other people, as well. Furthermore, I have no problem voicing my opinion especially if it is in the best interest of the group with whom I am working. Finally, my coursework exhibits my tendency to succeed in the classroom, which will continue for the foreseeable future.
When shadowing at the Bryan College of Health & Sciences, I was able to work with professional sonographers and practice using the equipment these men and women use on a day-to-day basis. Repetition with these tools gave me an extended knowledge by looking at heart palpations, various blood clots, and simulated embryos of a pregnant woman. As a result of this experience I also learned a great deal about what the job description of a nurse entails.
I shadowed Dr. Linn Erickson for 10 hours, watching him perform chiropractic techniques on patients of various ages and gender. I was also able to learn sufficient information about the function of the spine, back, and nervous system, which gave me an appreciation for the natural side of medicine. In addition, I was able to practice chiropractic on a rubber mannequin using my hands or one of their instruments.
