Under general supervision, as a Police Sergeant, I supervise, mentor, organize and conduct training of subordinates and field training programs; prepare performance evaluations; conduct internal investigations; assist officers with investigations, investigate accidents involving subordinates, coordinate personnel and assignments, review reports, assign follow-up reports, maintain discipline and adherence to departmental policies and procedures, coordinate with other law enforcement and related agencies, supervise operations of assigned shift, promote and develop high morale, define problems and develop possible solutions in a formal manner, and perform all of the duties listed under the police officer classification. Complete a monthly schedule and working with the current budget to keep expenditures down below cost.
Work closely with neighborhood groups to come to successful conclusion with issues in the neighborhood as well as setting long term goals for future activities.
As a Police Officer, under general supervision, I prevented crimes, enforced State and local laws, investigates complaints, and apprehend criminals and suspects; protect the public, helps the distressed, safeguards public rights, and aids in the administration of justice; and assumes responsibilities and performs duties related to the work, as required. Assigned as a Field Training Officer instructing and teaching new officers within the department.
Began as a Deputy Sheriff working patrol and assigned as a Field Training Officer. In January of 2007 I was assigned as an acting Sergeant for Patrol until being promoted to the Rank of Lieutenant February 2008.
As the Lieutenant, I worked as the administrative manager of the Community Correctional Facility / Adult Detention Facility (CCF/ADF) with the Under-Sheriff and assisted in the panning, budgeting ($1.2 Million CCF/1.1 Million ADF), directing and organization of activities of the Lassen Community Correctional Facility. Exercised full authority and acted as the CCF/ADF Commander during the absence of the Commander. Covered the patrol division when required to do so at times of shortages and or emergencies.
Established and maintained as the liaison with representatives from Federal, State and local agencies as well as contract negotiations with the State of California. Worked as the primary point of contact between Lassen County and the California State Program Fiscal Audits Branch for all contractual Obligations. The Lieutenant position was lost after CDCR pulled their contract June/2011.
Part-Time Instructor/Teacher in the areas of Criminal Justice and Correctional Science. Instruct students in the following courses: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice, Introduction to Corrections, Community Relations, POST 832 / Arrest and Control Techniques.
As an instructor, promote learning, plan activities and assignments, prepare lesson plans, review homework assignments, proctor test. Promote self confidence in students who are looking to enter the Criminal Justice field.
Supervise a caseload of individuals who were on active parole or probation. Prepare court ordered pre-sentence reports and other legal documentation. Work with local law enforcement authorities in identification and or apprehension of subjects who have absconded from their terms and conditions.
Started as a Police Officer for the town of Afton in June of 2001. Promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2003, which is the second in command under the Chief of Police. As the Sergeant, I was responsible for the departments training, budgetary line items related to supplies and equipment, acted as the interim Chief of Police when the Chief was out of the office, wrote and implemented the departments first Policy and Procedures. Took care of the tactical equipment and made purchases of items utilized by the patrol officers and other members of the department.
As a Deputy Sheriff, I was assigned numerous assignments throughout the county of Butte. I worked patrol, promoted as an Investigator in the Narcotics Task Force, promoted as an Investigator in the Robbery Homicide Unit, assigned to the Officer involved Shooting Protocol Team, Arson Task Force and was assigned as an acting supervisor on patrol when a sergeant was not available. Assigned to the Special Incident Response Team (SIRT) for five years, and was the departments EVOC an PR-24 Instructor and Range Master/Firearms Instructor.
Started as a Level 2 Reserve Police Officer then moved on into a Level 1 Reserve Police Officer Position after attaining the required training and hours.

The curriculum emphasizes contemporary social issues, criminal behavior analysis, legal and ethical principles, strategic management, and policy development. You can apply critical thinking to key issues, to case studies involving ethical dilemmas, and examine criminal data, associated procedural laws, and public policy. The course study was with other law enforcement officials throughout the country.
