Proficient using test equipment such as; spectrum analyzer, vector analyzer, scaler analyzer, network analyzer, site master, RF generator, optical source/power meter, optical time-domain reflectometer, VM700 video test set, and FireBerd data test sets.
Duties include support of microwave/satellite communications and timing systems for the Launch and Integrated Support Contract for the USAF Launch and Test Range at Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
Primary responsibilities include design, integration/installation, acceptance testing and maintenance of communication systems unique to the USAF Launch and Test Range locations at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and the downrange tracking facilities, Antigua Air Station and Ascension Auxiliary Air Field. SATCOM Environmental Monitoring - Quick Reaction Engineering task that developed an SNMP compatible remote monitoring system designed to detect unauthorized intrusion, environmental alarms and UPS status in remote/unmanned buildings. As lead engineer my responsibilities included estimating cost/schedule, the installation and integration of the new environmental alarm system into the existing SNMP monitor/control network and acceptance testing. Task also included an automatic shut down feature designed to protect internal equipment in the event of a high temperature condition and an auto call-out function to provide alarm notifications in the event of a failure of the SNMP network.
ER Satellite Modem Replacement - This project delivered significant cost savings by reducing bandwidth requirements by using carrier-in-carrier technology and developed a method to utilize bandwidth sharing of the telemetry and timing links between Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and the down range tracking stations. As the lead engineer my responsibilities included; estimating project cost, developing RF link budget, installing and configuring Comtech CDM-625 modems with CNC option, bulk encryptors and designing hardware capable of remote RF switching to accommodate bandwidth sharing.
Launch Area Support Ship Data/Comm System Replacement - This task replaced an aging Inmarsat system for the Department of Navy/Strategic System Program and integration with an existing secure network. As the lead engineer and IPT lead, my responsibilities included developing a link budget recommending antenna size and transmit power for the replacement system to provide a reliable satellite link, providing cost estimate/schedule for the task, site layout, installation/integration of the system, and acceptance testing. Task was completed on budget, and the schedule was accelerated to satisfy the Navy's need date.
Rocket Cam Video for Telemetry - Lead engineer and IPT Lead for task that implemented telemetry modifications designed to receive FM video downlinked real time from the Atlas and Delta Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicles. Modifications included installation of video processing amplifiers, video filters, vectorscopes, colorbar generators and specialty designed FM modulators used for telemetry calibrations. Recorded training class for operations personnel explaining video principles, setup instructions for telemetry receivers and video processor amplifyer required to provide on-board launch video.
