I am an incoming Freshman for the Fall 2016 quarter with work study. I would love to work in a lab and science based job as I am a Biomedical Physics major. I believe this position has the ability to give me the lab experience a science major desires, and the work ethic that comes with being a scientist - organization, adaptability, and research/knowledge. I believe I would be an ideal asset to this lab and this position.

Secretary & Co-Captain of Policy Debate TeamSpeech and Debate – Desert Oasis High School
Secretary: Created agendas for weekly meetings, attended weekly meetings, recorded and posted minutes.
Co-Captain: Researched extensively on topics (Cuban Embargo and ocean exploration) and put together lesson plans for novice debaters.
Volunteer: Helped at local elementary and middle schools during carnivals and festivals.
Speech and Debate was the most crucial class in my academic career. Before joining, I was too nervous to speak in front of others. Through the club, I experienced a combination of politics and public speaking. I traveled to various tournaments throughout the valley, speaking in front of judges and opponents, learning to hold my position and defend my statements.

Vice PresidentAmnesty International – Desert Oasis High School
Wrote weekly lesson plans, chose discussion topics, helped organize volunteer opportunities for club.
As a result of my Speech and Debate involvement, I wanted to talk about politics with students my age and understand their view on the world. I led discussions on the current presidential race, sexism, racism, and oppression. I helped lead volunteer projects at the local women's shelter and the LGBT center.
