 Past and Current Leadership Experiences

I was West Handley's Science Lead when I taught 5th Grade Science. I coordinated with upper and lower grade levels to implement and follow with fidelity the standards alignment. I worked closely with 4th grade teachers to embed proper vocabulary, ESL support in scaffolding, and increase the rigor to prepare them to think critically. I worked with lower grades for science content accountability and teaching them how to teach the standards in conjunction with others. I went to conferences like CAST to further develop my content knowledge and collaborate with struggling teachers at the school. In addition I was chosen to lead many projects during my graduate years at Relay GSE. Along those I was chosen to be the opening speaker in the national Relay ceremony which focused on equity and culture in education. Finally, I was an integral voice when it came to leading PLCs in Fort Worth ISD by creating a collaborative culture amongst colleagues that resulted in student's achievement.

Work-Related Contributions Beyond Primary Assignment

The whole second grade team was new except for the team lead and there was a lot of friction at the beginning due to various expertise levels and lack of communication. I worked hard to implement effective communication, organization, and relationship building amongst the team so we could work as a unit. That included having some tough conversations when things were not done correctly and helping a first year teacher with classroom management. I had multiple visitors sent by the principal to observe my lesson plan format, classroom management and engagement.

I worked with the Holiday committee and sponsored the treats with my small business to continue to embark inclusion and unity amongst the whole school.

Planned with a colleague family engagement night including Math Night which was a huge success.
