February 2022 hired as Police Officer for Kiskiminetas Township with assignment as school resource officer for the Apollo-Ridge School District. In this role I led the school resource officer program. This is role is aimed at improving and implementing relationships in the community, and improving safety and security. I completed an overhaul the entire resource officer program with improvement to policies and procedures, resulting in improved school safety and community trust. I completed a safety assessment of the school district, which lead to the allocation of funds through state safety grants. With these the district was able to obtain an artificial weapon detection system, improved video surveillance, and building access devices. Which did aid to a reduction of unauthorized access, improved observation capabilities, and weapon detection for all buildings in our district. Upon the success of my projects, my proposal for a new position in the resource officer program was approved. I was part of a collaborative team that led efforts to improve and update emergency services act of violence response plan. This lead to more roles and responsibilities within the police department and I now serve as the head instructor and manager for our use of force program. I was recently selected to serve and obtain national certification as our hostage negotiator for our county’s newly forming SWAT team.
I was promoted to a narcotics detective for the Cambria County Drug Task Force. I received this promotion assignment after showing extensive knowledge and prosecution results for illegal narcotics activity. I made an immediate impact by generating multiple cases to the state and federal level for narcotics related crimes that resulted in seizure of narcotics, firearms and other assets. Upon successful convictions this resulted in local communities reporting to police, they felt safer being in the community. Upon showing my initiatives I was selected to and obtained advanced trainings in the following areas investigations, interviewing, cyber investigations, evidence handling, and courtroom testimony. I showed successful ability to manage an extensive caseload with limited supervision, which lead me to being assigned more responsibilities. With the scope of investigations, I encountered sensitive content often related to ongoing and current investigations. With this training and experience, I was able to successfully transfer that knowledge and help other officers use it to impact their caseloads and drive results.
After completion of Pennsylvania Municipal Police Academy, I was hired for the Borough of East Conemaugh as a Police Officer. In this role I satisfactorily completed all duties such as daily reports, vehicle patrol, traffic enforcement, and calls for service, investigation of crimes, and completing all assigned workload. Showed and eagerness for professional development and education which lead to selection for advanced trainings. Within two years I was selected for promotional assignment as a narcotics detective for the county drug task force. As my career progressed, some of the advanced trainings I obtained are in juvenile justice, control tactics, crisis intervention, cyber investigations, sexual assault investigations, diversity education, and disaster response. This allowed me to train and mentor junior officers when hired in collaboration with managers. I obtained certification as a use of force instructor and then began to work with our use of force director. I worked closely with a team of senior leaders to make improvements in updating and maintaining policy that lead to the continued professionalism of our department. I was able to learn and manage event planning and security operations, such as parades and large scale department of transportation projects. This allowed me to develop strong analytical and critical thinking skills, which allowed me to complete tasks with minimal supervision. I learned how to format, type, and deliver proper police writing style reports that were used for successful court prosecutions. My reports often were used by my supervisors as examples for proper formatting and structure. I was able to learn how to develop interpersonal communication skills by interviewing and speaking with victims, suspects of crimes and those around me on a daily basis. I continued my education and development, as I sought out new and challenging ways to produce personal and professional growth.
