I am a middle aged female with a variety of past experience. I have dabbled in many self employment ventures in my lifetime. Among these are: Mexican Restaurant, Daycare Center, Real Estate Broker, and Insurance Broker. Currently, I am beginning a career in comedy including skits I have written, comedic dance, portraying numerous characters, along with traditional stand up comedy.
I am self confident, yet always willing to learn from others. I firmly believe that each person has something to teach and something to learn.
I raised three successful sons. I am at a point in life now where I am ready to focus on my lifelong dream of teaching. I was a single parent of three boys and had to work numerous jobs and try various self employment opportunities to adequately provide their needs. I am now ready to focus on my inner most desire of teaching. I am open to teaching general studies for elementary students, however, my ultimate dream job is middle school math (grades 5 - 9).
As a young child, I attended a Montessori school and learned that there are many different ways and methods to teach every concept. I was labeled a "gifted" child. At the age of 7, I tested as a college sophomore. My parents did not want me in college at the age of 7, so I was advanced three grades. More than anything, this showed me the importance of enhancing lessons for those that feel the work is too easy, along with added help (tutoring) or presenting material in a different manner for those struggling.
I was bullied and ridiculed most of my childhood for being the "smart" kid and for being so much younger than my peers. This taught me to pay attention to each and every student and look for warning signs of depression, being bullied, abuse, or needing to talk. I believe that students must feel comfortable not only at home,, but in the classroom, in order to fully succeed.
I believe in being friendly and fair, but firm when needed. I absolutely do not condone name calling, yelling ,or belittling any student, for any reason.
I am very motivated and excited to finally enter the world of teaching.
I am open and willing to take on extra activities, tutoring, clubs, assistance with games, etc. as needed.
I am anxious to learn from experienced teachers. I would like to hear what has worked best in instruction and management, as well as what hasn't worked well.
I am very professional in attitude, dress, and appearance.
I have always been complimented on my organizational skills, as well as giving 100% in anything I am doing.
I have decent computer skills and excellent typing skills.
I am extremely proficient in mathematics.
I have written many short stories, poems, skits, etc.
I have worked in a wide variety of jobs, allowing me to learn a wide variety of skills.
I believe a job at a retail store or fast food establishment is equally as important as a doctor, lawyer, teacher, etc.
I will give 100% effort at any job or task I am given.
I am anxious and willing to learn something new each day.

After receiving a Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education, I took the Praxis test. It was passed for elementary education. I completed the Praxis test for middle school math (grades 5-9) and passed this, as well. I have taken 29 hours of graduate courses, in the area of educational administration and instructional media technology. I have not completed my master's degree because at the time, I had three children at home and the courses I needed to complete my degree were not available on the West Plains campus. Therefore, I completed all of the available online graduate courses available. I am very interested in completing my master's degree in the near future.
Cumulative GPA for graduate courses is: 3.59
