To continue growth in the field of Special Education by expanding my experience to outside of the classroom. By furthering my education and receiving multiple certificates, I hope to educate and inform staff, students, and parents about recent trends and educational strategies that will benefit all involved.

Worked with students and teachers on development of Special Education best practices, gave accommodations and modifications to teachers to use in their general education classroom. Routinely met with teachers to provide professional development on Special Education topics. Case Manager for 25 students across grades 9-11. Created and implemented I&RS Committee, tested students as needed. Pulled students out and instructed them on their level using Springboard materials as well as provided in-class support with the general education teachers. Use of Oncourse student management system and Easy IEP special education program. Acted as a liasion between our private residential facility and the public school of the students for grades 5-12. Checked IEP's for compliance and held IEP 30 day transfer and annual reviews for each student. Attended discharge planning meetings and contacted home district on results of meeting. Investigated IEP programs and gave professional development to staff on Special Education topics.
Have taught in Resource, Self-Contained and In-Class Support settings across grades 6-8 as well as being a Home Instructor and tutor for general and special education students. Highly qualified in Math, LA, and SS. Proficient in READ 180, Accelerated Reader, Collins Writing, Cornell Note taking, Study Island and Literature Circles. Have experience with TIENET and Easy IEP programs. Have administered the Woodcock Johnson, WIAT 2 and 3, and the Beery Test of Visual Motor Integration and found academic strengths and weaknesses in students. Have been a Coordinator and teacher in an after-school program, been a member of many school-based committees and have written curriculum for Middle School Language Arts, Life Skills and Science.
