Currently, my job is to analyze extensive stage small cell lung cancer (SCLC) tumors and correlate gene mutation with clinical outcome. In one of my recent project I identified RICTOR (RPTOR independent companion of MTOR, complex 2) amplification as one of the most frequent, actionable gene alterations in subpopulation of SCLC. We clinically correlated RICTOR amplification in SCLC using SCLC cell line models with various levels of RICTOR copy number in order to analyze its downstream effects on cell growth and migration. Finally, used mTOR inhibitors that are currently under investigation in clinical trials to examine the translational potential of RICTOR inhibition in SCLC patients.
