Project Description: Application of various computational tools in genome sequencing, assembly, annotation and comparative analysis.
Worked with one biologist and one computational scientist in the project of assembling a de novo transcriptome of soybean cyst nematode, establishing a transcription library for worldwide research, assigning possible functional roles to the assembled transcripts, and comparing the expression of these transcripts across populations.
Presented complete project in a poster session joined by 60 graduate researchers and professors. Prepared a one-page abstract for publication in a symposium handbook.
Attended weekly science events, including popular science lectures and computational skill development.
