Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR)
While working as a PSR worker, i work with foster care kids doing treatment packets, doing school work, and being a mentor. Also:
Right of Passage (ROP) is an all girls rehabilitation center where i was a mentor for about 48 girls. I started off as night shift and worked my way to day shift. As working on night shift i would, get the girls ready for bed ensuring they are in a safe mindset, stay up all night and do random checks on these girls to make sure they are safe and there was no self harm going on. When morning came, i would wake the girls up and help them get ready for the day.
As a day staff i would help wake the girls up and get them ready for the day. Throughout the day i would run line movements, get them to school on time, do treatment classes such as: drug and stance abuse, independent living, and coping mechanisms. After this we would run health and wellness and fully participate with the girls. After the day is over i would get them ready for bed which included shower program and dinner. After the girls went to bed the day was over.
Also working here I:
Working for Lululemon was much more than just selling workout clothes but ensuring that every customer that entered and left felt that we cared for them. I also would go out in the community and partake in workouts, inspiring people of all ages and sizes to live a better lifestyle. To show that anyone can become successful if they put their mind to it. Lululemon was much more than just a brand but made everyone feel like a family member. I also became a mentor for those who had negative thoughts about their bodies.
When working with F.L.Y I was mostly in a classroom setting with at risk youths who were expelled or struggling to stay in school while teaching them about the law, how to encounter uniform officials, and helping them to get back into school. F.L.Y gave me an opportunity to help ensure youths the best opportunities when it came to their lives. I also helped with their school work, called parents to update them them on their youth, and help them apply for jobs and colleges. I also became a mentor for them when they needed help or needed someone to talk to. For example, I kept all information confidential except in cases pertaining to abuse, neglect or threats. I would recommended coping mechanisms and offered guidance to individuals dealing with intense problems. I monitored and provided assistance with such activities as homework, fitness and sports, art and literacy. I talked with individuals, sharing positive life experiences to encourage improved self-esteem and boost socialization. I created programs to promote independent functioning, embracing individuality. I educated patients on various resources, services and programs to maximize care. I collaborated with social workers to support patients. and lastly I Built and maintained strong relationships with patients by successfully resolving issues and responding promptly to phone inquiries.
