Theater Properties Manager and Designer with 14 years experience.
Dedicated professional with a passion for passing along my craft to others.
While the role of prop master is often the least loved production job "assigned" to some poor freshman for back stage credit, I hope to instill a love for a career that I fell into completely by accident!
I dearly love helping to bring the world of a play alive through props and hope I can convey how important it is to take that responsibility seriously.
Was responsible for all props used in all productions, including 5 main stage community theatre productions and up to 40 touring shows. Created all touring sets, which were made of appliqued and sewn fabrics to create fabric backdrops.
Trained tour actor/directors in their acting roles.
Taught student cast members their acting roles and taught craft classes. (Tie dye, mask making, puppet making.)
Responsible for all props, set dressing, and soft goods for all productions, including up to 8 different main stage productions per year, as well as up to 3 small (black box) productions and 3 summer Children's shows. Was also responsible for Theatre for Young Audiences props, with up to 3 shows a year.
Helped establish the Academy for Young Actors, starting as program director and then helping to teach workshops on acting as well as makeup design, props, mask making, puppets, and tie dying.
