Montgomery County Department of Police, Animal Services Division – 7315 Muncaster Mill Road, Derwood, MD 20855

Manage all aspects of the Foster/Rescue Department including, but not limited to:

  • Coordinate with interdepartmental staff, interns, and volunteers to identify those animals in most need of temporary foster care and/or transfer to an approved rescue partner.
  • Ensure all active fosters are adequately trained for each assignment; identify, propose, and provide new opportunities for continuing education and advancement.
  • Develop and implement effective recruitment and outreach strategies to expand the organization's current foster network and coalition of rescue partners.
  •  Receive, review, and process all incoming applications, correspondences, and requests from current and prospective foster care providers and rescue partners, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders, or forward to the appropriate department for processing.
  • Evaluate foster applicant experience and qualifications; check references; facilitate background check; and present bi-monthly new foster orientation sessions and facility tours.
  • Act as liaison between foster and veterinary staff to fulfill all routine veterinary exams and treatments and respond to foster's concerns.
  • Communicate with adoption, social media, and community outreach departments about marketing strategies and promoting animals in foster care.
  • Create, update, and maintain program's databases, volunteer training records, and hours; run weekly reports for statistical analysis and gauging of program effectiveness.

Montgomery County Government, Department of Police – 7315 Muncaster Mill Road Derwood, MD 20855

Managed all aspects of the Admissions Department:

​Provided counseling and humane education to Montgomery County citizens who have lost their pet, were considering surrendering their pet, or were in violation of Montgomery County Animal Control Laws; facilitated resolution of citizen complaints.

Coordinated, scheduled, and oversaw the daily intake of animals from Montgomery County citizens and Animal Control Officers; Created and maintained records of each animal as they came through the building; returned lost animals to their owners in accordance with county policies and standard operating procedures.

Responded to citizen, code enforcement officer, and other stakeholder requests for public records; obtained and provided requested records in accordance with the Maryland Public Information Act.

Ran monthly reports and maintained accurate records of program statistics.

Performed intake examinations on each animal; determined health and behavioral status; administered routine vaccinations and other treatments, as needed, and directed by the Chief Veterinarian; ensured all medical and behavioral notes, along with communication with patrons, were accurately and promptly recorded.
