Developed and implemented a comprehensive program to manage flammable gasses and liquids.  This included establishing Design Criteria, Dispersion Modeling Techniques, Hazardous Area Classification Rationale, Safe Venting Locations and Weather Proof Vent Designs. Design Basis Owner / Subject Matter Expert for Highly Hazardous Chemicals at American Electric Power.  Developed and implemented management systems for Process Safety Management, Anhydrous Ammonia, Chlorine, Hydrogen, Natural Gas, and water treatment chemicals such as Sulfuric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Hypochlorite, and Ammonium Hydroxide to meet the jurisdictional requirements in our over 30 generating facilities within 11 states of operations.
 
Led the Target Zero Safety Process for 3+ years. Target Zero consisted of a cross section of  over 140 of the top leaders in our Generation Business Unit.  The Target Zero Process contributed to reducing recordable injuries from a rate 3.0 in 2007 to our present rate of 0.62 in 2010 based on 1,925,166 hours.  Deliverables from the process included individual safety plans that are included in performance reviews to create accountability.  Just in time safety bulletins to keep employees focused.  Providing the Target Zero Team process with safety topics of the month, yearly safety improvement initiatives, Human Performance, newsletters, job safety briefs (Enterprise Hazard Awareness Program) and safety statistics.
 
Revised the Quality Management System as Manager of the Quality Assurance Program for Engineering, Projects, and Filed Services.  Tranformed the outdated Quality Assurance program as part of continuous improvement using tools and resources such as, external benchmarking, ISO 9001:2008, The Project Managers Body of Knowledge, Human Performance, Target Zero Safety Practices, and internal "Lessons Learned".

Developed and Implemented Bow Tie Analysis for highest risk processes at the GE Plastics Ottawa, IL site and for the ABS Plastics Business Unit.  Bow Ties provided real-time assessment of the “health” of the layers of protection for these scenarios as well as opportunities for continuous improvement in hazard mitigation and emergency response.  
 
Participated in the underwriting efforts of the Quality Management System as the Ottawa Plant transitioned from QS 9000 to ISO 9001:2004 by conducting tabletop exercises and mock audits.  The Ottawa Plant achieved certification through BSI on its first attempt.
Applied continuous improvement techniques and statistical analysis  to review prior process safety and quality related incidents.  Developed and implement plans using this data to improve incident reporting and event analysis. Incident reporting rate tripled from ~50 events annually to over 300. Significant events decreased by over 60% and customer complaints were cut in half due to event analysis and corrective actions  These efforts helped to establish a culture of prevention in place of reacting after the fact.
 
Collaborated with General Electric Plastics Corporate Process Safety to establish and implement Global Process Safety Management Standards for General Electric Plastics to manage safety instrumented systems, and uninterruptible power supplies.
