  •  I have demonstrated a positive attitude toward the NJROTC program, maintained outstanding personal appearance and attributes such as initiative, dependability, adaptability and perseverance; along with an attained grade of “A”
  • I exemplified the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism throughout the program. I continued to be a motivated cadet, pushing the program to be the best it could be.

  • My junior year, I was given the opportunity to apply for RYLA, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards; a leadership Camp awarding students who had displayed leadership abilities and a passion for making a difference in the world. I eventually was selected out of my junior class to attend RYLA after an essay and interview; allowing me to meet motivational speakers, brave middle eastern women who pursued an education despite odds, and the chance to collaborate with fellow students on their different styles to inspire and push for change in their own communities.

  • The summer of 2017, I attended Leadership Academy; a high demanding and exhausting program. I went through many motivating lessons and team oriented activities such as orienteering, strict drill, and obstacle events. I even grew used to the intense physical training and the rigorous schedule of the academy. After a week's worth of sweat and blood (luckily no tears), I proudly stood with my platoon as we were awarded our Silver Cords. This Cord has been one of my biggest achievements in my life, and I'm extremely proud to wear it on my uniform.

  • I was assigned the role of Platoon Commander for a platoon of younger cadets from a mix of schools. I enforced intense physical training, studying of knowledge, uniform prep, and the ability to drill. All of this was obtained in the course of one strenuous day.
Experience
11/2013 to Present Postdoctoral research fellow Complete Genomics | San Jose, CA,
  • Designed efficient and novel synthetic routes to facilitate rapid analog synthesis of 200 compounds involving complex heterocyclic cores, fragments and metal chelators to address specific goals of the lead optimization, based on SAR and drug like properties.
  • Utilized transition metal catalyzed reactions to develop chemical probes with an improvement of 10 fold in potency and 25 fold in permeability compared to parent compound.
  • Integrated and analyzed structure-activity relationship, ADME data sets to design compounds with optimized potency and desirable properties to deliver multiple lead series for RT associated RNase H, HCMV and TDP2.
  • Generated data for publications, patents and multiple grants which formed the rationale for requesting and winning an award of $1,525,000 for various projects.
  • Managed inventory of 5000 chemicals and in-house compounds and trained chemists to improve the lab safety in compliance with EHS.
09/2011 to 11/2013 Research Fellow Mayo Clinic | Saint Ansgar, , UK
  • Effectively used the literature to design efficient routes amenable to prototype and scale up synthesis of intermediates and target compounds from 20 mg to 100 gm.
  • Integrated data sets and medicinal chemistry principles to prioritize synthetic strategy to manage three projects simultaneously.
  • Utilized wide range of techniques in synthesis, purification and structural determination of 300 compounds (NMR, mass spectral techniques, HPLC, LCMS and chromatography).
  • Developed 3 lead like series of novel anti-coagulants with improved 10 fold selectivity against homologue proteins and minimal bleeding risks resulting in successful funding of £980,000 for drug discovery.
  • Managed 8 MS, PhD and external chemists with the parallel synthesis of diverse analogs and curated chemical library for HTS.
  • Initiated partnerships with other analytical, technology, pharmaceutical sciences and biochemists to meet project timelines and milestones as evidenced by publications and grants.
09/2007 to 06/2011 Postgraduate researcher University Of Leeds | City, , UK
  • Developed synthetic methodology for the synthesis of focused kinase inhibitors library of 100 compounds consisting of oxindole, oxadiazole and triazole cores.
  • Synthesized and curated a diverse drug like library consisting of 500 compounds involving fragments, peptidomimetics and small molecules to develop modulators of protein-protein interactions.
  • Utilized microwave reactor to synthesis heterocyclic analogs in parallel with improved yields and shortened reaction time.
  • Maintained accurate records of all work suitable for publication and patents.
  • Communicated scientific results internally and externally through publications, 7+ national and international meetings.
