Experience
Wesleyan University - Postdoctoral Research Associate
Middletown, CT, 07/2017 - 02/2022
  • Analyzed the underlying molecular mechanism of cobalamin deficiency associated with fetal developmental programming in a zebrafish model
  • Generated a tcn2 knockout zebrafish using
  • CRISPR/Cas9 technology and showed the observed phenotype of the mutants can be 2 ameliorated by supplementation of cobalamin during embryonic stages
  • Performed RNAseq analysis to uncover the different genetic pathways affected in the mutant embryos
  • Studied the role of a recently identified hexokinase Hkdc1 in the mice model
  • Independent genome-wide association studies in different populations have identified HKDC1 variants associated with elevated gestational 2-hr blood glucose levels in the third trimester
  • Performed molecular and functional characterization of Hkdc1 knockout mice model to understand its role in gestational and whole-body glucose homeostasis.
Kihomac - PhD
Byron, GA, 02/2010 - 03/2017
  • Using Tol2 transgenesis, generated cardiac-specific transgenic zebrafish lines expressing GFP-tagged lamin A (WT/Mutant) and analyzed the effect of pathogenic lamin A mutations during embryonic development in homozygous zebrafish embryos
  • Transgenic zebrafish models of heart-specific laminopathies show cardiac regeneration, moderate deviation in heart rate, and misshapen nucleus in cardiomyocytes
  • Additionally, investigated the expression of zebrafish laminA promoter during embryonic development in transgenic reporter lines and by comparative expression of different deletion constructs of zebrafish lamin A promoter in vitro and in vivo
  • Identified a muscle-specific element in zebrafish lamin A promoter and a minimal promoter for zebrafish lamin A.
CSIR-CCMB - Project Assistant
City, STATE, 03/2008 - 12/2009
  • Generated stable Ef1Ī±: GFP reporter zebrafish lines using Tol2 transgenesis
  • Cloning and phylogenetic analysis of the promoter and gene structure of myostatin from five members of cyprinids
  • Conducted transient expression assays in zebrafish embryos to study the tissue-specific activity of putative promoter fragments (Myostatin, Histone 3, Ī²-actin from different fish genera).
CSIR-Institute Of Genomics And Integrative Biology, Dr. S. Sivasubbu - Junior Research Fellow
City, STATE, 07/2006 - 02/2008
  • Involved in the generation and screening of mutant zebrafish produced by the gene trap approach
  • Learned to set up and conduct a genetic screen and to characterize the insertion locus in transgenic animals
  • Participated in the large-scale mapping of Tol2 transposon integration sites in the zebrafish genome.
