For a period of time, a necessary career sabbatical was taken to care for four of my family members impacted by Covid 19. During this time, tragically my Dad, a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy with medals of honor, my best friend, and my hero lost his battle to Covid 19. Always, I have been an empathetic care provider, but my personal experience with Covid has left me forever changed with a greater capacity to search for optimism in the darkest hours, letting our hearts lead the way when our knowledge falls short of what is needed to sustain us.
