Two years ago, I moved back to Maryland from Sweden where I lived with my husband for fourteen years. While in Sweden I have had the opportunity to explore and learn a lot about the world and myself.
I have spent a lot of time working with horses on our farm and, in doing so, learned new ways of communication. This has helped me be better at communicating and working as a team.
My husband and I started Pinto Horse Association of Sweden which meant that we not only had to learn new rules and regulations but also had to educate others. I have handled much of the administration which includes keeping track of the financials., keeping track of members as well as logging inventory.
During our time in Sweden, I have also attended university where I was studying to be an English¨and Math teacher. I, however, became sick and was unable to continue.
In July 2018, I had to have my left arm amputated after a series of infections. This, to me, has been a blessing in disguise. I now know that I want to work as a Physical Therapist, something that has been of interest top me for many years., I would love to work with amputees. I started taking classes at The College of Southern Maryland in September of 2019 and am working towards getting my certification to be a personal trainer and to become a physical therapy assistant.
I started working as a physical therapy tech in December 2019 and loved it! It confirmed that this is what I want to do as a career. I, however, lost my job due to Covid.
Through travel, and then amputation I have learned how to readily adapt to different situations, to communicate more efficiently, to work with a budget and a deadline as well as to be confident with who I am and to always be open to new learning opportunities.
