  • Serves as Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer PEBLO) for Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and its geographic area of responsibility.

  • This involves sharing with the patient the results of his/her military medical board recommendations and potential vocational/education interests.
  • Applies significant professional skill, ingenuity, and knowledge to increase self-sufficiency, motivation, proper work habits and adjustment to work conditions.
  • Clinically understands the functional aspects of multiple, severe physical and psychiatric disabilities, including polytrauma and traumatic brain injury (TBI), knowledge of issues surrounding the employment of individuals with disabilities, and an understanding of the need for vocational/educational guidance, training, and support.
  • Works with other hospital staff such as the Warrior Transition Unit (WTU),TBI Case Managers, WTU case managers, and Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) Vocational Rehabilitation liaisons, both at the Carl R. Darnall Medical Center on Fort Hood and in the surrounding community.
  • Works closely with all of these agencies to assure speedy referral and provide consultation/liaison services to determine suitable employment objectives.
  • Works independently researching gleaning information from health records, Army Regulations, DoD Directives, and Veteran Administration Schedule for Rating Disabilities (VASRD) to ensure a comprehensive and all inclusive medical summary is prepared and forwarded to the Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) for adjudication.
  • Coordinates clinic evaluation appointments for National Guard and Reserve Component (RC) personnel for approved line of duty (LOD) related injuries.
  • Ensures service members receive the best medical evaluation, summary, and adjudication of their particular case and to understand full range of alternatives open.

  • Assists in preparing appeals, rebuttals, and the assignment of Soldiers legal counsel.
  • Acts as a leader assigning, distributing, and balancing daily workload over a team of case coordinators as well as accomplishes duties without assistance within prescribed guidelines and regulations.
  • Provides consultation to Medical Doctors, professionals, and paraprofessionals providing clinical services.
  • Reviews narrative summary reports from physicians and ensures all service member's diagnosis (es) have been addressed.
  • Reviews health records to ascertain copies of pertinent documents, which are required and will be considered by the PEB.
