Interacted with registered pharmacists in a hospital setting to gain insight into the everyday practice of pharmacy.
Shadowed pharmacists in the critical care center, the surgical center, the heart hospital, and cardiology department for a total of 16 hours. Important specific tasks are included below.
Verifying prescriptions written by physicians, and the need to inspect, document, and consider medications that patients are allowed to bring from home.
The process of interpreting kidney function via renin levels.
The demand for proper medication dosing for pharmaceuticals such as warfarin.
The importance of timing and medication such as antibiotics one hour before surgery to prevent infection.
