I am quite proud of this GED. I dropped out of high-school, pregnant, 16 and in an unhealthy marriage to a much older man. I tell you this because I'm proud that even though my life was less than ideal, I persevered. I studied many days and nights with my baby in my arms, I dealt with abuse, and homelessness, and I never quit. I graduated with honors and as a member of the 300 club.

I was barely old enough to drive, 15, when I enrolled. My instructor explicitly told me that she never allows students under 17 to enroll in her program, and that she was making an exception for me. She made sure I understood that she had high expectations for me, and if I was unable to meet her standards that she wouldn't hesitate to cut me. I'm proud to say that I exceeded her expectations and graduated as one of the top students in her course, during my sophomore year of high school.
